Have you noticed it’s getting darker much earlier in the evening? Impkids will miss those long summer days, but autumn is full of fun too. This is a lovely time of year to be outside (well, we think that about every season!) and enjoy the autumn colours. With Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to go pumpkin picking or run through an amazing maze. In the meantime, ask an adult to print out this picture of a pumpkin maze for you to make your way through.

Impkids love drawing! October is Big Draw month in the UK. There are many Big Draw events in parks, museums and schools where the family can draw together. This half term, why not go outside, grab a pencil, pen, crayon or paint and get drawing. Some of our favourite colours are yellow, orange, blue and red. What is your favourite colour?
Take some time in your day to doodle and get a grown up to send us the picture at info@impkids.co.uk and you have the chance to win yourself a cosy hat and gloves! Just get your picture to us by 11th November to take part in the competition.

Impkids can’t wait to see “The Lion King” in 3D. Simba and friends are back in cinemas again as of today, this time in 3D. You probably already own a DVD of the movie, but hakuna matata (no worries) if you don’t. Here’s a peek at “The Lion King.”

We love the Swedes for coming up with what must be the most delicious day in their country. The 4th of October is known as National Cinnamon Bun Day in Sweden. They call it “kanelbullens dag.” Impkids just call it yummy! We agree that these brilliant buns are worth celebrating. Happy Cinnamon Bun Day to our friends at Villervalla!

Yum yum!

Here at Impkids, we love seeing little stars on our clothes and the stars in the sky. When our friends in Sweden look up to the sky now, they may catch a glimpse of the northern lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis. The northern lights make the sky light up with beautiful bright shades of green, blue and red. This amazing natural light show can be seen from around September through to March. It is usually only visible in the far north in places like Scotland, Russia, Norway and Sweden.

The first day of autumn is 23 September! Autumn is a fabulous time for a walk in the park, a stroll on the beach or for picking your own pumpkin. In Sweden, September is the start of the berry and mushroom picking season. Ask mum to take you to a farm where you can pick your fruit or go to the Real Food Festival (23 – 25 September) at London’s Southbank Centre. The festival celebrates British harvest time. Here is a link (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/games/nevs-jam-buster-game) to a fun food game Impkids found on CBBC. Happy Harvest!

Here at Impkids we love a good book, especially when we can see the characters in person. Leeds Castle in Kent is presenting “Wind in the Willows” 27 – 28 August. It’s an outdoor performance, so you can have a picnic while watching the adventures of Ratty, Mole, Badger and Mr. Toad. Or you can see what it’s like to have tea with a tiger. “The Tiger Who Came to Tea” is playing at Vaudeville Theatre in London until 4th September. Click here for a colouring activity that allows you to draw yourself with the tiger. Ask an adult to print it for you.
What book character would you want to invite on a picnic or have over for tea? Write and let us know!

Now you are on holiday, you have loads of time to be a little imp, go outside and explore nature. Maybe you could play a game to see who can spot the most bugs, birds or butterflies? Any park, garden or zoo is a great place to find great, small creatures. Check out the pictures below taken at Butterfly Paradise in London Zoo.

How many butterflies can you spot in this photo below? (We found 14)
You can learn about where animals live in this “Animal Adventure” game from London Zoo. Good luck!

“Spy Kids 4: All the Time in The World” will be in cinemas from Friday, August 19. This time, a retired agent and her 2 stepchildren fight to stop a supervillain, known as the Timekeeper.
Not only will you feel like you are touching the action, this film you will allow you to SMELL what you see! It sounded strange to Impkids too, so here’s a clip to explain.
If you go to Spy Kids 4, we would love to hear what you thought about it or any movie you have seen this summer.

Have you ever eaten a crayfish? They look like very small lobsters. In Sweden, they enjoy crayfish so much that they have crayfish parties in August. It’s a brilliant way for families to celebrate summer. The Swedes have their crayfish parties outside with coloured paper lanterns hung around the table. It is a feast full of bright decorations, singing and all the crayfish you can eat!
Have a happy crayfish party to our Villervalla friends in Sweden!
The link below is to a photo of a crayfish. Ask a grown up to print it out for you to colour.
